Ella Bass

There will be a Celebration of Life for Ella C. “Ma” Bass, 95, formerly of the Triangle Road, on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 10:00 at the Brier Hill Fire Station Community Room. Rev. David Sheppard, Pastor of the Congregation Church of Brier Hill will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Mrs. Bass died Thursday November 28 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center where she had been admitted the day before.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 at IslandView Funeral Services, 300 Main Street, Morristown.

Surviving Ella are her two sons, Brent A., Hammond and Brian A., Macomb; four grandchildren, Arnold J. “AJ”, Watertown, Jon, Hammond, Tylor, Hammond and Vickie Bass, Theresa, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Predeaceasing Mrs. Bass are two sisters, Frances and Rennie and her husband Arnold.

Born on March 25, 1924, in Kendrew Corners she was the daughter of Rella and Mabel Gutterson Childs.

At the Methodist Church in Kendrew Corners on June 8, 1944 she married Arnold Franklin Bass with Rev. Marmon, officiating. Mr. Bass died August 17, 1976.

After graduating from Rensselaer Falls High School, Ella graduated from Ogdensburg School of Business.

Mrs. Bass worked as a teachers aid at Hammond Central School for 39 years, retiring in 2009. She also worked at LA Boutique in Alexandria Bay for 25 years as a second job.

Ella “Ma” Bass really enjoyed making donuts and cakes in her spare time.
